The 201703 trip – Laundry, birthday, Pasta Jay, and bugs

Thursday, March 30 Mikes BDAY.

The closest camp we could find to Moab as Shady Acres in Green River – about 48 miles away. Why so far away?  We had gone to a popular area during SPRING BREAK. Worse even, the coming weekend was the time for a huge motorcycle demo/rally at Moab. Every campsite for 47 miles around were full of motorcycle toting toy haulers and every other kind of camper known to man.  I wish we had been more equipped for boon-docking – as in, willing to take a chance with the large group we had. For the next week we wasted a couple of hours a day, commuting back and forth.  Shady Acres had a couple of small playground areas that the girls made use of and our laundry.  When the clothes were put away, we drove to Moab and spent some time walking around.  On the way there, we turned off the highway on “some random road” to see if we could find a good spot to take pictures with the mountains that were south west of Moab.  We had bee seeing these snow covered mountians since we arrived in the area.  Mts Waas, Peale and South, the group contains.

We eventually settled on Pasta Jay’s for supper.  It was a great place and I opened my birthday present after dinner – an Apple Watch.  Desert was Ice Cream from a near by shop, and across the street to the visitor center for some more literature.

Then back to Green River to rest up for the next few days trips to National Parks.

Friday, March 31       Jenn is sick. Headaches and severe weakness.  Something she ate?  Some other “bug” she picked up somewhere.  We didn’t know and getting healthcare way out here was going to be a problem.  After some discussion, it was decided to leave the youngest with her and the rest of us would rive out to Canyonlands and take in some views.  We drove through Canyon lands, stopping at various overlooks.
